Method 1: Manual Cleaning (Hand Brush or Sponge). This method relies on generating a thick "dry foam" to lift dirt without over-wetting the carpet padding.
1. Vacuum Thoroughly: Remove all loose dust, hair, and surface grit before applying any liquid.
2. Dilute and Whip: Mix the shampoo with lukewarm water at a 1:10 ratio in a bucket. Agitate the mixture vigorously with a sponge or brush until a thick, rich foam forms.
3. Apply Foam Only: Scoop up the dry foam with a soft-bristled carpet brush or sponge. Rub it into the carpet in circular motions. Avoid soaking the carpet fabric.
4. Drying and Vacuuming: Allow the carpet to dry completely (usually 2 to 4 hours). Once dry, vacuum the carpet again to lift the crystallized dirt and surfactant residue.
Method 2: Machine Extraction Cleaning
Use this method for deep-cleaning large areas with a professional spray-extraction machine.
1. Pre-Treat Spots: Apply a 1:5 dilution directly onto heavy stains using a spray bottle 5 minutes before machine cleaning.
2. Fill the Tank: Dilute the shampoo at a 1:20 to 1:30 ratio in the clean-water tank of the machine. Always add Carpet Glo to the water to avoid excessive foaming.
3. Add Defoamer: Add a commercial silicone-based defoamer directly into the dirty-water recovery tank (not the clean tank). This prevents the high-foaming SLES from overflowing into the vacuum motor.
4. Extract: Run the machine over the carpet, pulling back slowly to extract as much moisture and dirt as possible.
5. Rinse: Perform a final pass using only clean water in the machine to emove any leftover chemical film.
Important Safety & Usage
TipsTest for Colorfastness: Always apply a small amount of diluted shampoo to an inconspicuous corner or closet area first. Wipe with a white cloth to ensure no color bleeds.
Ventilation: ensure windows are open and the room is well-ventilated during application and drying.
Keep Off: Do not walk on the carpet until it is 100% dry to prevent rapid re-soiling.
1. High Foam Risk (The "Suds" Dilemma) Carpet Glo is a powerful foaming agent. While visually satisfying, high foam is the enemy of carpet extraction machines. It can quickly fill and overflow your machine's recovery tank, potentially damaging the vacuum motor.
The Fix: Use it at high dilution rates (1:20 or more), or use it primarily as a pre-spray. Spray it onto the carpet, let it dwell for 5–10 minutes, and then extract using pure hot water in the machine's tank. This formulation will be highly effective at cutting through grease, oil, and deeply embedded traffic dirt, performing on par with standard commercial-grade cleaners
